What is the history of Blackjack?
Blackjack is a very popular card game that is played in casinos all over the world. You can also play different versions of the game online. This game goes way back though. Nobody can actually pinpoint when the game actually came into being. Some researches have come to the conclusion that Blackjack started somewhere in France during the 17th century. A game by the strange name of Vingt en Un was started in the early casinos in France and had some characteristics of the modern Blackjack game that we know today.
At about the same time that the French card game started to become popular, there was a card game started in Italy by the name of Seven and a Half. It is also commonly believed that some of the aspects of this game helped to form the early Blackjack card game.
After the French Revolution it seemed that the Blackjack game became popular in North America. At that time there were no laws against gambling or card games and many people took up with the notion of playing Blackjack. Eventually the game evolved so much that the winnings became huge and the seedy underworld of criminals decided to get involved since there was so much potential money involved. They started developing fraudulent and cheating strategies in order to make the most money out of the game.
Early in the 19th century the American government stepped in and banned all kinds of gambling and gambling activities including Blackjack. Naturally this caused the whole operation to move underground and become even more criminal and illegal. After a couple of years Nevada decided to legalise gambling again and there it was! Las Vegas! Blackjack gained a lot of status in this place, what with all the casinos that were built there!
Once again many people started to play the game all over as laws were being unbanned over the world regarding gambling. Then people tried to figure out once again how to make the most money out of Blackjack. This is likely to continue for as long as the game exists as people will always want more and more money.
